10.03.2010 | 14:00

Lower  power prices in Norway. The average power price decreased in three out of four Norwegian elspot areas last week. The prices were record high in these areas in week 8. Lower demand mainly due to higher temperatures, and increased Swedish nuclear power production, contributed to lower prices in Norway.

Despite a price decrease of 70.6 øre in Mid Norway, this area hade the highest weekly price in the Nordic area with 69.8 øre/kWh last week. The price was highest, almost 300 øre/kWh, five hours on Thursday. In each of these hours, the import capacity from Northern Norway and Sweden was reduced by 400 MW.

In Southeast Norway the price decreased by 28.8 øre to 63.2 øre/kWh. The price in Southwest Norway increased by 0.8 øre to 52.2 øre/kWh. Increased export to Southeast Norway contributed to the increase. In Northern Norway the price decreased by 71.2 øre to 62.5 øre/kWh.
