Increase in Norwegian power prices. From week 3 to week 4, colder weather in the Nordic area contributed to increased power consumption and higher power prices.
Increased hydropower production in northern parts of Sweden crowded out some of the price increase in Middle- and Northern Norway. The price increase in these areas was 2 percent, resulting in an average price of 296 NOK/MWh in week 4. Decreased nuclear power production in Southern Sweden contributed to the price increase in southern parts of Norway.
The price increased by 15 and 16 percent to 302 NOK/MWh in Western- and Southwest-Norway. The strengthening of the price was intensified by reduced imports from Jylland.
In Eastern-Norway the power price increased by 4 percent to 304 NOK/MWh. The price increase was lower than in the rest of southern parts of Norway, due to higher temperatures in this area.
