The power situation week 35, 2010

08.09.2010 | 14:00

Increased power prices in Norway. The average spot market prices increased with 8-9 percentages in all of the five Norwegian price areas during week 35.

Mid-Norway had the highest power prices with an average of 40.0 øre/kWh. In the Northern parts of the country the average price was 39.3 øre/kWh, whilst the rest of the country had a price of 38.4 øre/kWh. The main reasons for this price increase were weather forecasts foreseeing dry weather, lower Swedish nuclear power production and lower Danish wind power output.

At the end of last week the average Norwegian water reservoir level was 67.2 percent. That is 0.4 percentage points lower than the week before. Low water inflow is the cause of this reduction. Locally, the highest reservoir level reduction was in North Norway where reservoirs were reduced with 0.8 percentage points. In West Norway the reduction was 0.4 percentage points and in Southwest Norway 0,7 percentage points. There was no change in the reservoir level in Mid Norway and in East Norway the reservoirs increased with 0.4 percentage points.
