The power situation week 28, 2010

20.07.2011 | 14:00

Still high Norwegian net export. Norway had a net export of 532 GWh in week 28. It is a reduction of 85 GWh from the week before.

Higher wind power production in Denmark and Europe contributed to lower export against Denmark and the Netherlands. Reduced inflow to the hydro-electric power stations led to lower forced production, especially in West-Norway. Yearly maintenance at Swedish nuclear power stations and the transmission connection between Russia and Finland contributed to high demand after Norwegian power from East.

It was smaller price differences between the Norwegian elspot areas in week 28 compared to the last couple of weeks. On several of the transmission connections between the elspot areas there has been maintenance which has been finished lately. It had led to lower price differences between the elspot areas. Furthermore has lower inflow in West-Norway contributed to an increase in prices by 7 percent, bringing West-Norway nearer to rest of the Norwegian elspot areas. The weekly average was still lowest in West-Norway with 31.5 øre/kWh, and highest in Mid-Norway with 33.5 øre/kWh.
