The power situation week 27, 2010

14.07.2010 | 14:00

Increased production and net Norwegian power export. The inland power consumption decreased with 2.9 percent from the previous week.

Despite this, the power production increased with 2.6 percent and for the first time since week 4 Norway had net export of electrical power. This development is partly due to reduced power production at the Swedish nuclear plants and increased Finnish import from Sweden, caused by work on a major transmission between Finland and Russia. Combined with this may wet forecasts have contributed to the increased Norwegian production.

Last week, the weekly average power price was 38.8 øre/kWh in the three southernmost Norwegian elspot areas. This is approximately the same as the week before. In Mid and North Norway, the price was 39.3 and 38.9 øre/kWh, an increase of 4 and 2 percent from the previous week. The reservoir level was 56.0 percent at the end of week 26, which is an increase of 2.0 percentage points from the week before. This is 16.3 percentage points below the median level for the week and 7.3 percentage points below last year’s level.
