High Norwegian net power export. Norway had a net export of 451 GWh in week 26. That is an increase in the net power export of 374 GWh, as compared to week 25.
The increase was caused by high hydro power production which led to lower power prices in Norway than in the other Nordic countries and continental Europe.
High precipitation and net water inflow the last weeks has improved the hydrological situation in the Norwegian power production system, which again reduces the producers incentive to withhold production. Probably this contributed to the increase of 350 GWh to 2312 GWh in the Norwegian power production during week 26. However, some of the increased production was caused by run-of-river production as a consequence of the high water inflow.
The Norwegian reservoir level at the end of the week was 67.2 percent. Compared to the week before that is an increase of 5.5 percentage points. The reservoir level is 0.3 percentage points below the median value of the week, but 13.2 percentage points above last year’s value.
