The power situation week 26, 2010

07.07.2010 | 14:00

Increased price and production in Norway. Last week, the weekly average power price was 38.0 øre/kWh in Mid and North Norway, 38.7 øre/kWh in East Norway and 38.8 øre/kWh in Southwest and West Norway.

This represents a price increase from the previous week of 3-5 percent in the three southernmost elspot areas, and an increase of 16 percent in the two northernmost elspot areas. The price rice is partially caused by a reduction in the import capacity from Sweden and reduced production at the Sweedish nuclear power plants.

The inland power production increased with nearly 19 percent from last week, despite reduced consumption. Reduced import from Sweeden was a contributing reason for this. The reservoir level was 54.0 percent at the end of week 26, which is an increase of 2.5 percentage points from the week before. This is 13.5 percentage points below the median level for the week and 5.4 percentage points below last year’s level. The distance to the median level for the week increased with 2.4 percentage points throughout the week.
