The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) is the principal government agency for international development. Being organised as a directorate under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its main tasks are to provide advisory services to the Ministry, to embassies in developing countries and to multilateral development organizations.
Through a framework agreement, NVE has assisted NORAD in its many endeavours within its specialities, namely the fields of water resources and energy assessment and management. The engagements have varied from appraisals of projects and evaluation of reports, to planning and preparatory work for new projects, and project implementation.
Additionally, NVE has directly assisted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in projects in the Balkan states, specifically on energy efficiency and environmental impact assessment in Montenegro.
